![]() ![]() Using an outpost for food is quite a waste if you can build hydroponics or a farm instead of some beds. In larger bases upgrading the barracks will make it much more viable for a large slot. TLDR: For most community sizes having at least one outpost for beds helps a lot with trying to sleep everyone and still have space to build other things at home. If losing another outpost is fine then option 6 is probably best. When you first start State of Decay 2 you're asked to choose one of three locations for your base at the end of the tutorial: The Foothills, Plateau, or Valley. Option 5 or 6 combination of outposts and sheltered beds is probably the best but option 6 has no daily cost. Option 2 and 5 have the smallest footprints taking only two small slots and an outpost or another small slot. Option 6: Two Outpost and Two sheltered beds (or other ratio) (no daily cost) Option 5: Two upgraded sheltered beds and one outpost (2 mat per day) Option 4: One Barracks and Two sheltered beds/outposts (1 mat per day?) Option 2: Three sheltered beds (two upgraded) (2 materials daily cost) Again I think Option 4 a combination of outposts and sheltered beds is best. 4 outposts is brutal but frees up facility space. I didn't list all of the innefficient configurations for this one. ![]() Option 4: Two Outpost and One upgraded sheltered beds (1 materials daily cost) Option 3: One Barracks and one sheltered beds (2 mat per day) Option 2: Three sheltered beds (one upgraded) (1 materials daily cost) Option 1: Four Outposts (no daily cost) (one extra bed) Option 5 combination of outposts and sheltered beds is probably the best because of no material cost and still not a huge hit to either facility slots or outposts. Option 2 with Two upgraded sheltered beds has the smallest footprint taking only two small slots. Option 5: One Outpost and Two sheltered beds (or two and one) (no daily cost) ![]() Option 4: One Barracks and one outpost (1 mat per day?) Option 3: One Barracks and one sheltered beds (1 mat per day?) Option 2: Two upgraded sheltered beds (2 materials daily cost) I think a 5 person comunity is just prepairing to add a 6th person because many of these configurations are not efficient with an extra bed. Option 4: One Outpost and One upgraded sheltered beds (1 materials daily cost) Option 3: One Barracks and one sheltered beds (1 mat per day?) (one extra bed) Option 2: Two sheltered beds (one upgraded) (1 materials daily cost) Option 1: Three Outposts (no daily cost) (one extra bed) Using option 1 frees up your base for more benefitial facilities, but with a comunity this small you are probably in a starter house that came with built in beds, so probably not a big deal. Option 4: One Outpost and One sheltered beds (no daily cost) Option 2: Two sheltered beds (no daily cost) This is not taking into account that the barracks can be upgraded farther with certain skills. Sheltered beds takes a small slot and barracks takes a large slot. Having enough beds increases morale and stamina. Outposts or built? This post will explore the pros and cons of all the options. ![]()
